Talkative is the abbreviation of Talk in English with Native. In this program, not only for students but also teachers studied and communicated with native within a week. This program was held in order to encourage students and teachers to speak English confidently.
There are some materials that were taught in these Talkative sessions. In grade 7 the student learned how to speak about Date, Days, and month. In grade 8 the students learned about how to ask and how to give permission. In grade 9 the students learned about narrative text/story telling. All of the material is focused on the current issue or any other general things. Before the Talkative week, students are guided to prepare the outline about the material.
Native speakers substituted SMPIT Al Haraki English teachers and taught each class once within 3 days. There were 12 sessions for 12 classes. The first 4 sessions were on 3rd October, after that the second 4 sessions were on 5th October, and the last 4 sessions were on 11th October. The native speaker taught the students, she explained about the material in more detail and assisted them in making a good writing. Native used various approaches in delivering English material such as discussion, games. After the sessions, students’ writing were compiled and stored in the google classroom of SMPIT Al Haraki, thus students can re-read their writings or read their friends.
Hope, this program can encourage students to speak and write English freely without thinking about mistakes and errors since English is important to be learnt in this era. (Yulia Mega Sari)
