International Student Visit Singapore 2022

In order to broaden students’ knowledge, SMPIT Al Haraki re-conducted International Student Visit Singapore after pandemic since the last same event had been held in 2019. International Student Visit Singapore 2022 was held on 23rd to 25th November, 2022. There were 14 students and 2 teacher assistants joined this event. The students who joined were 8 graders and 9 graders of SMPIT Al Haraki. In this occasion, the students visited some educational tourism destinations within 3 days in Singapore.

After being released by SMPIT Al Haraki’s Principal, Mr. Chairullah, in SMPIT Al Haraki early morning on 23rd November 2022, all the participants departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 6.20 a.m WIB by using Air Asia with the flight number QZ 262. All the participants arrived at Changi International Airport at 09.30 a.m. SGT. One of the purposes of this event is to make the student more independent through this event, e.g. the students should take care themselves and their belongings during the trip, the students should face the immigration officers at the airport by themselves, and many more.

The first destination right after they arrived was Universal Studio Singapore. The students were given some time to enjoy all the facilities, such as: Transformer The Ride, The Mummy, Jurasic Park, Roll Coaster, etc. In USS, the students were also instructed to practice their English skill to communicate with foreigners there. After having fun almost a day, they visited Bugis Market on Bugis Street. It was one of tourists’ favorite market in Singapore. At the market, everybody could find many kinds of souvenirs with affordable price. Without wasting the chance, the students bought many chocolate and souvenirs.

After having shopping at Bugis Market, all the participants went directly to Grand Pacific Hotel on Victoria Street by walking since the location of the hotel was not far from Bugis Market. The participants would stay at Grand Pacific Hotel during their visitation in Singapore. It was a four stars hotel in Singapore who served very good service including halal breakfast.

On the second day, the students visited National Library Board where nearby the hotel before they went to Merlion Park, Singapore’s landmark. At Merlion Park, the students had their own time to take some photos and videos while they were enjoying beautiful scenary. Next destination was Art Science Museum. Art Science Museum was one of popular tourism in Singapore. In this place, the students were shown how the art and science were combined becoming some amazing masterpieces, such as universe lighting and . Then, the students had lunch in Hj. Maemunah on Haji Lane Street. Hj. Maemunah is one of restaurant in Singapore which provides Indonesian halal food.

After the participants refilled their energy, they went to Garden by The Bay. they visited two places, Flower Dome and Super Tree. At the Flower Dome, all the participants were amazed by all the plant collections there. Flower dome has more than 10.000 platnt collections from around the world and they were planted based on their habit. Next place was Super Tree. It was an artificial big tree with the height more than 100 meters. From the rooftop of the Super Tree, the participants could see the amazing scenery of Singapore and Batam Island. Then, the participants visited Marina Barrage Sustainable Gallery. Marina Barrage Sustainable Gallery is one of big reservoirs in Singapore that is used to dam the sea water entering Singapore’s land. After visiting Marina Barrage, the participants went for shopping in Orchard and enjoyed the night street performance on Orchard Street. And then, the students also learnt to use MRT from Orchard to Hotel.

In the last day, all the participants checked out from Hotel. The first destination on the third day was Indonesian Embassy in Singapore and were welcomed by Educational and Cutural Attache. The participants were explained about the opportunities to study abroad especially in Singapore. Then, they visited Google Asia Pacific in West Singapore. Google Asia Pacific is the center office of Google in Asia Pacific including Indonesia, Japan, Korea, etc. All the participants went through the office and learn many things there, such as the work culture, opportunities to work there, and the reason why Singapore was choosen as the center office in Asia Pacific. It was very fascinating to learn in Google Asia Pacific because it was a rare chance for everyone could enter and go around inside the building.

Next destination was Newater Visitor Center. All the participants learnt how valuable water for our next generation through knowing the process of purification water in SIngapore. Then, the participants visited the last destination, Rain Vortex Jewel at Changi International Airport to see the beautiful artificial waterfall inside the airport. It was very amazing. Changi International Airport was one of the best airport in the world. It has many amazing architecture.

Then, all the participant checked in to come back to Indonesia. They departed at 11.40 a.m. SGT from Singapore and arrived at 1.30 a.m. WIB at Soekarno Hatta. Then, they arrived at 3 a.m. at SMPIT Al Haraki, Depok.
